Sweetwater Scholars Learning Community
As a SUHSD graduate you are invited to participate in the Sweetwater Scholars Learning Community at UC San Diego. This group is open to all local first-year SUHSD students at UCSD, regardless if you receive a Sweetwater Scholars at UCSD Scholarship. Academic support services will be provided by the campus’ learning center, known as the Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services (OASIS). Programs and services offered by OASIS for the Sweetwater Scholars Learning Community include the following OASIS Transition Programs (OTP):
- Summer Bridge & Academic Transition Program
- STEP & TRiO Student Support Services Program
- TRiO Student Support Services Program
As an OASPIS Transition Program student, you will participate in an OASIS Learning Community (OLC) weekly seminar each quarter of your first year. OLCs will provide you with a consistent small group of peers who you can collaborate with for study groups and other activities throughout the year. OLCs will also help you with tips and necessary tools to excel at UC San Diego. Additional benefits of being an OTP student include participation in other academic year services, such as one-to-one conferences with staff, academic workshops for courses you are enrolled in, as well as referrals to other campus departments.
You will find that being a part of the OASIS family is an extremely rewarding experience that can seldom be duplicated! In the years ahead, the OASIS staff will be there to help you excel in your studies at UC San Diego through tutoring and mentoring services.
